Quick answer

For Crops Of Cinder's Cradle, collect Prickle Pearl, Grandleaf Cabbage, Bloomheart Fruit, Aurora Beans and Thyme. Bring all five in your backpack to Emily Fray, the Farmer, then craft or obtain Basalt Farm Soil. The listed soil recipe combines 5 Fertilised Farm Soil and 10 Basalt Dust, producing 10 Basalt Farm Soil. Quest objectives, soil recipe.

Track the Cave Passage objective

The first stage marks Cave Passage in Cinder's Cradle. A published route passes through Drak'dal Camp to the cave, with four of the required plants inside and Thyme outside on the ridge beyond the tunnel. Treat this as a route to verify, rather than a claim that QuestAtlas has tested every turn. Gathering route reference.

Check all five crop names

Keep a sample of each requested crop:

  • Prickle Pearl.
  • Grandleaf Cabbage.
  • Bloomheart Fruit.
  • Aurora Beans.
  • Thyme.

If the objective remains at four out of five after the cave search, check for Thyme on the outside ridge before repeating the entire interior. That is the missing plant in the published route, although your own inventory may be missing a different one. Thyme location reference.

Return with the crops in your backpack

The second stage asks you to bring the produce to the Farmer. Carry the actual crops when speaking with Emily Fray; the quest record specifically calls for the items in your inventory. Avoid cooking, consuming or storing the last sample before this conversation. Then check whether the journal has moved to the soil objective. Hand-in requirement.

Prepare the Basalt Dust

The Mill recipe lists one Basalt for Basalt Dust, with a processing time of 180 seconds. Ten dust are needed for the soil batch. As a planning calculation, ten consecutive three-minute crafts would take 30 minutes on one uninterrupted production queue; this is not a timed in-game test. Preparing the dust before the crop trip may reduce waiting afterwards. Dust recipe.

Craft Basalt Farm Soil at the Farmer

Bring 5 Fertilised Farm Soil and 10 Basalt Dust to the Farmer's crafting menu and make the listed batch of 10 Basalt Farm Soil. The recipe record lists picking up Basalt as an unlock condition. Check the exact terrain name: ordinary ground or another farming soil is not the requested Basalt Farm Soil item. Soil ingredients and unlock.

The quest's final instruction is to craft or obtain the soil. Inspect the journal after collecting it. The quest record lists 225 XP. Final objective.

Before turning the samples into a farm

The soil database lists uses in the regional seedlings and plant pots, including Thyme and the four other quest crops. Check your Seedbed and crafter recipes after the quest, and reserve material for the recipe you intend to use. Soil uses.
